Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang

Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang is a complex of several Hindu temples scattered in the jungle on the slopes of Mt Lempuyang. Most tourists don't make it past the first temple, as getting to the others requires hiking up the mountain through a series of stairs. We spend a few hours in the complex, visiting some of the temples higher up. The jungle is nicely cool once we reach the cloud level. On the trail, we pass Balinese in festive attire climbing the trail with baskets of offerings. We also have an opportunity to watch a ceremony at one of the temples. Monkeys are everywhere, sometimes too aggressive. Shortly after we are back in the car, a downpour begins.
